Stacked storage bins require a retainment system to encase the bins in the event of tipping. A major automotive supplier had a system that consisted of steel posts and anchorages bolted to the cement floor with netting attached to the structure using steel cable. The system was not performing as planned and required modifications.
JADE+ Inc. provided structural review support for the supplier designed bin warehouse post wall structure installation. During the on-site inspection it was found that a thinker cable was required to prevent sag (due to the large span) and properly support the load of the bins should they tip.
A safer work environment was created by changing the materials used for the retainment system and the employer can now have peace of mind.
